Yes, it’s avocado. No, it’s not toast. And yes, you can absolutely eat it for dessert. Before you roll your eyes or start thinking this is one of those fancy Pinterest things, hear me out. This mousse is creamy, chocolatey, and has just the right pop of orange zest that makes it feel a little special without doing anything dramatic. It’s the kind of dessert that makes you look like you know what you’re doing in the kitchen, even if your usual skills are microwaving popcorn or burning toast. Smooth, indulgent, and surprisingly easy, it’s one of those treats you can scoop straight from the bowl, maybe sneak a bite before anyone notices, and actually enjoy without thinking too hard about it.
Ingredients for Choco-Avocado Mousse
4 ripe avocados
4–5 heaping tablespoons cacao powder
¼ cup agave (or maple syrup, your choice)
¼ cup dark chocolate chips
1 teaspoon coconut oil
Zest of 1 navel orange
Juice from 1 slice of navel orange
Instructions
Microwave the chocolate chips and coconut oil in 20–30 second bursts.
Scoop the avocados into your food processor.
Toss in cacao powder, agave/maple syrup, orange zest, and juice of one orange slice.
Pour in the melted chocolate and blend until smooth, silky, and mousse-like. Scrape the sides to make sure nothing is left behind.
Sneak a spoonful. If you want more chocolate, add more. If it's not sweet enough, add more sweetener. If you want more of an orange flavor, add more orange! It's totally up to you and what your tastebuds want.
Refrigerate for 30–60 minutes if you want a firmer mousse.
Serve with your favorite toppings (nuts, fruit, whipped cream, etc)

A Note From Me to You
I know moments in the kitchen, especially the messy, uncertain, soul-searching ones, can feel like you're juggling a million things and wondering if it even matters. Maybe you woke up tired, stressed, or just behind before the day began. Maybe you’re doing everything you can just to hold it together, for your kids, your partner, your work, or yourself.
⋯ ⋯ ⋯ ⋯ ⋯
If you’re here, choosing to make something nourishing, even just a simple mousse with avocados and chocolate, please hear me when I say: you’re doing enough. You are enough. Right here. As you are.
⋯ ⋯ ⋯ ⋯ ⋯
I’ve had those moments too. Standing in the kitchen, wondering if any of it matters, questioning if I’m really making progress or just going through the motions. The truth is, growth, healing, and joy don’t always come with big signs or applause. Sometimes, they look like treating yourself to something sweet that’s also good for you. Sometimes, it’s simply showing up for yourself, one recipe at a time.
⋯ ⋯ ⋯ ⋯ ⋯
There’s a line I come back to often from Marcus Aurelius: you have power over your mind — not outside events. Realize this, and you will find strength. It reminds me that even when life feels chaotic, there’s still something we can choose. We can choose how we meet the moment. We can choose to show up, whether that’s for a meal, a loved one, or just for ourselves.
⋯ ⋯ ⋯ ⋯ ⋯
And maybe that’s all any of us are really being asked to do, to keep going, to keep showing up, to take one steady breath at a time. Even one silky, chocolatey mousse at a time.
⋯ ⋯ ⋯ ⋯ ⋯
It’s up to you.
